THE LITTLE PRINCE
Antoine de Saint-Exupery wrote in the forties "The Little Prince", a child book at first sight but metaphorically speaks of adult themes. The book is open to varying interpretations, so a discussion of the points of view of the different readers could be infinite.
From my point of view, one of the greatest lessons come from the day on which The Little Prince decided to leave his planet and explore other worlds. Thanks to that decision, he meets differents characters who will teach him the keys of life, bad ones and good ones. Each of us can see either identified by one of differents characters, or not. Maybe you only feel close of one. For me, one of the most interesting characters is "the businessman" - I have so much work! I'm serious, I don´t like nonsense - Half a million stars that only he possess. This is the dangerous routine that we can end up causing a lack of affection for smaller things, the simplest, the ones which others value with all of their forces.
Look with child eyes is difficult. Almost impossible. But do not think it's so hard to look through the illusion of the eyes of a child. We must not give up the "Carpe Diem" wich all of us learned watching Peter Weir's film, "Dead Poets Society".
What does this have to do with South Africa?. Not all trips are equal. Without question, we learn more in ones and in others we felt more "at home". But we can learn. Travel alone? It´s not better, It´s not worse, it´s different. The main part is not South Africa China, Australia or Russia. The most important thing was to go outside of my little world and had the opportunity to value that to have half a billion stars is not essential, but to have a rose and some volcanoes to be useful is basic.

EL PRINCIPITO
Antoine de Saint-Exupèry escribió en los años cuarenta "El Principito", un libro a primera vista infantil pero que trata de forma metafórica temas adultos. El libro se presta a variadas interpretaciones, por lo que una discusión sobre los puntos de vista de los diferentes lectores podría ser infinita.
Para mi, una de las mayores enseñanzas vienen del día en el cual El Principito decidé salir de su planeta y explorar mundo. Gracias a esa decisión conoce a varios personajes que le ensañan de algún modo diferentes claves de la vida, lo malo y lo posiblemente bueno. Cada uno, se puede ver identificado por uno u otro personaje, o no, puede que solo te haga "gracia" más uno que otro. A mi el personaje que me hace "gracia" es sin duda, el hombre de negocios - ¡Tengo tanto trabajo! Yo soy serio, no me divierto con tonterías – Quinientos millones de estrellas que solo las tiene en posesión. Esa es la peligrosa rutina que nos puede acabar provocando una falta de afecto por las cosas más pequeñas, las más sencillas, las que otros valoran con todas las fuerzas.
Mirar con lo ojos de un niño es difícil. Casi imposible. Pero no creo que sea tan dificil mirar con la ilusión de los ojos de un niño. No debemos dejar escapar ese "Carpe Diem" que todos aprendimos viendo la película de Peter Weir, "El Club de los Poetas Muertos".
¿Y esto que tiene que ver con Sudáfrica?. No todos lo viajes son iguales. Sin duda de unos aprendes más, y en otros te sientes más "en casa". Pero de todos aprendes. ¿Viajar solo? Ni mejor, ni peor, diferente. Lo importante no es Sudáfrica, o China, o Australia, o Rusia... lo importante es haber salido por un momento de mi pequeño planeta y haber podido valorar que lo importante no es tener quinientos millones de estrellas sino una rosa y unos volcanes para los que sea útil.
Corto y cierro este blog. ¿El próximo? Quien sabe. Gracias a todos por estar ahí, y gracias en especial a la persona que tanto me insitió en que me leyese "El Principito" y de la que he aprendido muchas cosas que nunca olvidaré.
